scorch me sweet

Last week we went to PEI to stay in a perfectly tacky trailer for a few days on our cousins' property. They have a lot right on the water, and I love daily strolls on this beach. It's not smooth sand, or pretty seashells, or clear water, but I find so many things along the shore. Tires, shoes, fishing lures, rope, beach toys, buoys, glass/plastic bottles, and all kinds of driftwood. I love the smell of seaweed, and the rich colour of the dirt. Oh God, thank you for beaches.

the farmhouse

This weekend I went up to the camp with my best friend/cousin and her family. This old farmhouse is my favourite place to be; the reason I yearn for summer every day of the year. The very air inside the house is the summers of my past. Sunday church bells, evening swims, dewy grass in the morning, and the VCR that no one has ever quite figured out how to work.

summer is a good thing

It's even hotter today than it was yesterday; I've been going back and forth between organizing my room and lounging outside in the sun. But I did take this picture at one point throughout the day. I found my 'homemade filter' at the back of a drawer, and felt inspired to use it. I like the way it turned out. So here is me, in my natural habitat on a hot day, too sweaty to smile.

popsicles

It is a hot day. Finally! This is just a picture I thought I would share before running outside to enjoy the sun. It could have been much better, but I was just experimenting with a photo that was taken last weekend. I just liked the bright colours and window sunshine; reminds me of popsicles. :)

sweet breeze

I went with my boyfriend and his family to Prince Edward Island this weekend, and although our stay was short, I love every moment of being away. There's something adventurous about sleeping in an unfamiliar bed, and waking up to an unfamiliar view outside your window. An unfamiliar scent on the breeze. And there was a breeze. It was windy and rainy all weekend. Which isn't so bad; we still spent most of our time outside. I sat on the front steps once everyday to write in my journal and smell the wild roses that grew on either side of the stairs. It's a sweet smell.
Anyway, these are fragments of my weekend. I should have taken more photos than I did, but as I said.. it was windy and rainy; the worst kind of 'take your camera out for a walk' kind of weather.
