The first thing I notice is the smell of grass.
Then I see it. In the near distance there's a clearing through the trees; a field of grass.
Then I'm lying in it. My nose is pressed into it. It smells like summer. It smells like happiness.
The sun is warm on my bare back.
Then I open my eyes. My head is on a desk.
A teacher stands at the front of the room. I don't know what she's talking about.
Disappointment settles on my heart.
I don't smell anything.
